A Little About Me
I’m a calm, adaptable civil celebrant helping families create personal and meaningful farewells.
I’m Simon Gresswell, a civil celebrant creating funerals, burials, memorials and bespoke services across Berks, Bucks, Hants, Herts, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Surrey.
I work closely with each family to shape a ceremony that feels right for them. Whether the service is non-religious, lightly spiritual, traditional, informal or completely personal, I’m comfortable incorporating the words, music, readings and moments that matter most.
Away from celebrant work, my life has been shaped by sport, music, travel and charity. From rugby, swimming and cycling to fundraising for causes including prostate cancer awareness, I bring openness, energy and genuine life experience to the families I support.

Funeral Ceremonies
A funeral ceremony should feel personal, honest and true to the life being remembered. I work closely with families to understand the person behind the name, gathering stories, memories, values and important details. I can include music, readings, poems, prayers or symbolic moments where wanted. The service can be traditional, modern, non-religious, spiritual or a gentle mix, depending on what feels right for the family. My role is to guide the ceremony with warmth, calm and dignity.
Burials & Memorials
Burials and memorial services offer families a meaningful way to say goodbye, remember and reflect. I help shape each service around the person’s life, character and the memories shared by those who knew them best. Whether held at a cemetery, crematorium, natural burial ground or another meaningful place, the ceremony can be created to suit the setting and the family’s wishes. I bring a calm and thoughtful presence, helping everyone feel supported throughout. Each service is carefully written and delivered with respect, care and sensitivity.
Bespoke Life Celebrations
Some lives call for a ceremony that feels less formal and more personal. I create bespoke celebrations of life that can include stories, humour, music, shared memories and moments that reflect the person’s true character. These services are shaped around the family, rather than following a fixed template. They can be simple and intimate, open-air and natural, or larger gatherings with a more celebratory feel. My aim is always to create something meaningful, fitting and memorable.
